A Necessary Upgrade (Japanese: 文献解読装置改良, Bunken Kaidoku Sōchi Kairyō) is a Timed Quest in Xenoblade Chronicles. It can be received from Naroth on the first floor of Alcamoth, north of the Imperial Palace, after The Deciphering Machine is completed. If Riki is in the active party, he will comment.

Objectives

• "Collect 5 Green Diodes in the High Entia Tomb."
• "Collect 3 Astas Remote Units from Hover Astas in the High Entia Tomb."
• "Return to Naroth."

Results

"The machine has been improved and is working. The writing is about the High Entia War God."
