Affinity Mission marker
Affinity Missions (Japanese: キズナクエスト, Kizuna Quest) are a type of mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Unlike Normal Missions, they feature cutscenes with fully voiced dialogue. Most of them unlock party members, allow Cross to learn other characters' signature arts, or are prerequisites for Story Missions. Affinity Missions also serve to build affinity between Cross and the other party members, depending on choices made during the mission. There are a total of 52 Affinity Missions.
Affinity Missions begin in various places throughout New Los Angeles, except for Lionhearted which starts in Cauldros. The starting point is marked in the field by an orange symbol representing two clasped hands, and on the minimap by a book icon. Examining an Affinity Mission icon will reveal the mission's name and prerequisites, which can include minimum level, maximum party size, required party members, restricted members who cannot be in the party, affinity with a specific character, and story or mission progress. If these requirements have been met, the player can accept the mission. Once begun, an Affinity Mission cannot be abandoned, required party members cannot be removed from the party, and no other Affinity or Story Missions may be started until the current one is completed.
