Air Slash (Japanese: エアスラッシュ, Ea Surasshu) is one of Shulk's physical arts in Xenoblade Chronicles. It may inflict Break to an enemy. If used from the enemy's side, it also inflicts Slow, reducing the enemy's movement and attack rate by 50%. The duration of Break and Slow depends on the art's level.

In Super Smash Bros. series[]
Air Slash appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as both Shulk's up special move and main recovery tactic to avoid falling offstage. In these games, Shulk leaps high into the air with his Monado and performs a slash, knocking opponents in its range upward and damaging them. If the player presses the special button again immediately after the first slash, Shulk will perform a second, sideway slash that gives him a small boost in height and horizontal distance. The Air Slash does a total of 11.5% of damage at its strongest (if both slashes hit) and 10.5% at its weakest. If Shulk has Monado Jump active when he uses Air Slash, the vertical distance will become greater.
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Air Slash has two variations:
- Advancing Air Slash, which involves Shulk performing a vertical slash and then a horizontal slash. The move improves Shulk's horizontal recovery but reduces his vertical recovery.
- Mighty Air Slash, which inflicts more damage but reduces the range of the Monado's beam. The knockback is more vertical than diagonal. Recovery distance is the same as the default Air Slash.
Air Slash has differences from its appearance in Xenoblade Chronicles. For one, it does not get as much height as it does in the Super Smash Bros. series. A second slash is absent from Xenoblade Chronicles, but it may be a subtle reference to Air Slash being capable of inflicting two status effects. Also, the second slash is how Shulk performs the attack in Xenoblade Chronicles (leaping into the air then striking with a sideway slash).
