amiibo are a line of interactive figures and cards created by Nintendo.

Overview[]

Each amiibo figure or card contains an NFC chip in its base, which allows it to interact with multiple games on the Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch consoles using near field communication. Each game has a different interaction with amiibo, with some games having unique interactions with specific figures.

There are currently five amiibo figures of characters from the Xenoblade Chronicles series, with three released as part of the Super Smash Bros. series of amiibo figures and two released as part of the Xenoblade Chronicles series of amiibo figures.

Shulk amiibo

The amiibo of Shulk was released as part of the third wave of amiibo figures for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. It is numbered 25th of the Super Smash Bros. series amiibo. In the US, the Shulk figure was exclusive to retailer Game Stop at launch, but was made available at Best Buy retailers in October 2015. It is not exclusive to any retailer in Europe or Japan. The announced release dates by Nintendo were February 2015,[1][2] and 20th February 2015.[3]

The Shulk amiibo has unique compatibility with the following games:

  • In Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, the Shulk amiibo can be used to unlock items in the Jukebox and Model Viewer. Using the amiibo once per day will grant three tokens to use for the raffles. The Shulk amiibo is the only amiibo supported by the game.
  • In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, scanning the Shulk amiibo for the first time will unlock a Monado weapon attachment for the Swordfighter class's Veiled Sword. It can also be unlocked by completing the game for the first time on any difficulty.
  • In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Shulk's amiibo, like all other Super Smash Bros. series amiibo, adds a CPU controlled "Figure-Player" that fights like a normal CPU, but can be leveled up and customized to make it grow stronger and learn how to fight different opponents.
  • In Super Mario Maker, scanning Shulk unlocks a Shulk costume for Costume Mario upon getting a Mystery Mushroom in Super Mario Bros. style stages. This costume can alternatively be unlocked at random by clearing the 100 Mario Challenge on Normal or harder difficulties. When Mario wears the Shulk costume, he uses Shulk's Japanese voice clips, and when clearing a course, the tune that plays in Xenoblade Chronicles when discovering a Secret Area will play.
  • In Yoshi's Woolly World, scanning Shulk unlocks a Shulk pattern for Yoshi, known as "Shulk Yoshi".
  • In Kirby: Planet Robobot, scanning Shulk grants Kirby the ESP ability.
