The Arachno Queen is a boss in Xenoblade Chronicles. The party faces it upon leaving Colony 9, in the Arachno Queen's Nest in Tephra Cave. It is also one of the only bosses faced with only two characters, Shulk and Reyn.
The Arachno Queen resembles a spider of incredible large proportions. Her jaws are in a unique position, but otherwise her appearance matches most large spider species despite having only four legs.
Story[]
While the Arachno Queen does not play a major part in the overall storyline, it is the threat of this beast that causes the first new Monado ability to awaken, the Monado Shield art. Shulk can use Monado Shield to protect Reyn and himself from harm. The Arachno Queen's skill that can be blocked with the shield is Arachno Crush. It is a double attack and is the attack it used on Reyn in Shulk's vision.
Before they arrive it is said that the Arachno Queen has been eating travelers, which means nobody from Colony 9 or Colony 6 could visit each other. This is shown when Shulk and Reyn find some dead Colony 6 traders.
Once the Arachno Queen is defeated, it drops the Queen's Gut Fluid, which is needed to dissolve the web blocking the way to Kneecap Hill.

Trivia[]
- After the events at the Mechonis Core, the party can receive Battling Brutes, in which the party must kill two monsters at level 98 in the Arachno Queen's Nest. One is a Gogol and the other is an Arachno. They are most likely fighting over who will be the new leader of Tephra Cave after the Arachno Queen died.
