Black Chips (Japanese: ブラックチップ, Burakku Chippu) are collectables in Xenoblade Chronicles. They can be found in the Ether Mine and later Colony 6. According to their description, they are black chips with residual charge and their wiring is busted.

Ether Mine - the following location have the highest spawn rate (18%) for Black Chip:
Colony 6 - north of the Reconstruction Headquarters. (11% spawn rate, Special LV1 only, before completing the Mechonis core event)
