Cammuravi (Japanese: カムナビ, Kamunabi), is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He was designed by Masatsugu Saito, the lead character designer of the game.

Overview[]

Cammuravi is the commander of the Agnian Colony Delta.[1] He is a mighty general who values respect in combat, and his fiery passion on the battlefield has earned him the name "Smoldering Cammuravi" (Japanese: 紅蓮のカムナビ, Guren no Kamunabi, “Cammuravi of the Crimson Lotus”). He wields a fiery spear during combat.[2]

He and Ethel are sworn rivals, but despite their opposing sides they have come to respect each others' prowess in battle.

Cammuravi is unlocked as a Hero after completing the Hero Quest A Twist of Fate. His Class Rank is increased to 20 by reaching rank 10 in both Seraph and Flash Fencer classes, and going to the now-unlocked lab in Colony Omega.

Story[]

At one point in the past, Ethel bested him in a Ferronis duel but refused to kill him, as his Ferronis' joints had failed due to a lack of maintenance and she wished to have a fair fight with him. Colony 4 was reduced to Dirt rank to punish her for this. While Cammuravi managed to survive the battle, he was imprisoned as punishment for failing to defeat Ethel.

Cammuravi is forced to work with Ethel to kill Noah and his allies, using a specially made Ferronis made by the Consuls, but when the Consuls O and P notice that they are holding back they try to hack Cammuravi's Iris just as K did with Ethel. However, he gouges out his own eye to stop them from taking control of his mind and declares that he will not be the Consuls' slave. The Consuls begin draining his and Ethel's life force as punishment for defying them, but they ultimately choose to die on their own terms in a final duel.

He is later reborn and rapidly aged to his final term as part of Y's experiments and is forced to fight the party alongside Miyabi, Hackt and Mwamba. After he is freed from Y's control, the party and the Lost Numbers bring him back to the City where they learn that the reborn Ethel has escaped from her pod. Cammuravi helps the party track down Ethel and feeling a sense of obligation, decides to look after her. Despite having no knowledge of his past life, he instinctively recognizes Ethel when they meet again. After Ethel matures back to her tenth term form, Cammuravi mutters Ethel's old nickname "Silvercoat" upon seeing fully matured Ethel, despite neither of them knew what it means, and Cammuravi also do not understand why he has a sensational feeling.

Cammuravi later joins Noah and his allies in their final battle against Z∞, where alongside all of the other Heroes they encountered on their journey, he can be summoned by Melia and Nia to help fight against X∞ or Y∞.

Personality[]

Cammuravi is an honorable warrior. He dutifully completes his assignments no matter what they may be. However, his dream of having a duel to the death with Ethel overrides his sense of responsibility, as he openly resisted the Consul's control in order to have that final duel. This dream left a lingering memory in his next life, as Cammuravi found himself inexplicably drawn towards the re-born Ethel. Cammuravi carries himself in a calm demeanor and frequently meditates to pass the time or remain calm. He has a fear of heights and flying.

Gameplay[]

His class is Seraph, an Agnus Attacker class. He specializes in doing massive damage with his Heatshimmer Spear, at the cost of dealing damage to himself as well.

Arts[]

In a Chain Attack, Cammuravi starts with 15 TP by default. His Chain Art is The Indomitable, which grants attack up to all allies, and increases damage ratio by 100%-200%, which increases with Cammuravi's level. His Heroic Chain bonus multiplies TP by 200% when first in line to attack, but TP returns to pre-action state upon reactivation.

Base Stats[]

These are Cammuravi's raw stats prior to modifications by class. They serve as a baseline for calculating his stats in the Seraph class (see its page for the corresponding multipliers which adjust these stats). Intermediate values are linearly interpolated between these base stats.

Etymology[]

Cammuravi may be a reference to Hammurabi, the sixth king of the First Babylonian dynasty of the Amorite tribe, and well known for the Code of Hammurabi.

His Japanese name, Kamunabi, may also be a reference to the word 神奈備, meaning the mountains and forests where the gods are said to dwell in.

Trivia[]

  • Cammuravi and Ethel are the only non-DLC Heroes in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to not have an Ascension Quest. Both are also the only two Heroes to share the same Ascension condition.
