Cressidus (Japanese: オオツチ, Ootsuchi) is a Special Rare Blade in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He can grant tremendous power to his Driver Mikhail and his allies. Cressidus uses the earth element, wields a pair of Rockrending Gauntlets called the Royal Guard, and acts as a Tank in battle.

Personality

Cressidus is portrayed as being very headstrong and brave, but his sheer amount of physical strength and bravery seems to come at the price of rather low intelligence. He enjoys fighting, is very knowledgeable about weapons and armor, and he is also trigger-happy, eager to cause any sort of destruction whenever given the opportunity.

Story

Cressidus is a member of Torna introduced alongside Mikhail, Patroka and Perdido. He fights the party upon confronting them at Bulge Harbor and his defensive capabilities combined with Perdido's weapon prowess bring them close to victory before Mòrag and Brighid, the strongest Driver and Blade of the Empire of Mor Ardain, appear and perform a pincer movement, trapping the Torna fighters at the far end of the harbour. Mythra uses her power to destroy a crane above them and blasts the area with light, targeting and destroying the core crystals of Cressidus and Perdido but leaving Patroka and Mikhail unharmed. Mythra expresses no regret for the killing of these two Blades.

Cressidus has the following Specials and Blade Arts when he assists Mikhail in battle:

New Game Plus

Cressidus' awakening

After finishing the game and installing Patch (Ver.1.3.0), the New Game Plus will be available and will allow the party to recruit Cressidus as a Rare Blade. He can grant tremendous power to his Drivers, Rex, Nia, Zeke or Mòrag, and their allies. Cressidus uses the earth element, wields Rockrending Gauntlets, and acts as a Tank in battle.

Heart-to-heart

Cressidus' Heart-to-hearts, "Muscle Power" and "Lone Wolf", take place in the Torigoth Relay Base between Mikhail, Cressidus, and his Driver and at Cape Singbreeze in Gormott Province between Sever, his Driver, and Cressidus respectively. In "Muscle Power", Mikhail muses about how interesting Titan Battleship technology is, and Cressidus also expresses enthusiasm. The two agree that they make a good team for tinkering with Cressidus dealing with large objects and Mikhail with small. If Cressidus' strength is brought up he will fling his Driver up to Clear Sky Beak. In "Lone Wolf", Sever enjoys the feeling of freedom that the area brings, telling Cressidus and his Driver that he envies those who can live alone and that other people are an unnecessary burden. Cressidus disagrees, and the two argue back and forth.

As with the other Torna Blades, Cressidus does not have a Blade Quest.

Specials

• Lv. 1 - Dead Ball - Throw out a ball of condensed energy from your right hand.
• Lv. 2 - Berserk March - Go on a rampage, bowling over the enemy.
• Lv. 3 - Earth Breath - Hit the ground with ether collected between both fists.

Cressidus' Japanese name translates to "big hammer" (kanji: 大槌).
