For the similar game mechanic in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, see Status Effect.

The Battle Effects, often referred to as Buffs and Debuffs, are a battle mechanic in Xenoblade Chronicles X. During battles, several strengthening and weakening effects can occur that can change a character's stats, abilities, and behavior, and their activations depend on the Arts used, the surrounding Battle Probes installed, and the ongoing Weather effect.

Buff[]

  • Icon battle06 buff 01 Melee Accuracy Up: The Melee Accuracy stat increases.
  • Icon battle06 buff 11 Ranged Accuracy Up: The Ranged Accuracy stat increases.
  • Icon battle06 buff 02 Ranged Power Up: The damage of Ranged Attacks increases.
  • Icon battle06 buff 03 Beam Res Up: The damage taken from beam attribute attacks decreases.
  • Icon battle06 buff 04 Barrier: A certain amount of damage is reduced from all attacks taken by the user.
  • Icon battle06 buff 05 Supercharge: The damage of the next art is doubled; the buff wears out afterwards.
  • Icon battle06 buff 06 Decoy: A certain number of enemy attacks are avoided, ignoring Accuracy and Evasion.

Weather and Battle Probe Induced Buffs[]

Mobility Debuffs[]

  • Icon battle06 debuff 01 Stagger: The character is knocked back, preventing them from attacking for a brief time. The Stagger status will persist even once a character can move again; during this time, topple arts have a higher rate of success, and a Skell Bind will be possible.
  • Icon battle06 debuff 02 Knockback: The ally is pushed backwards, further than they would be with Stagger.
  • Icon battle06 debuff 03 Stun: The character faints.
  • Icon battle06 debuff 04 Sleep: The ally falls asleep and remains inactive, but will be awakened if hit by an attack.

Status Debuffs[]

  • Icon battle06 debuff 05 Blackout: Reduces Accuracy and Evasion. Ranged attacks will also do less damage.
  • Icon battle06 debuff 06 Blaze: Thermal damage is inflicted at regular time intervals.
