- "Those are Fogbeasts. Signs of the strained world the black fog birthed..."
- — A

Fogbeasts (Japanese: 霧乃獣, Kirinokemono) are a special group of creatures in the Xenoblade Chronicles series. They are creatures created from the Black Fog as signs of the worlds of the Bionis and Alrest attempting to recombine. Fogbeasts have a unique battle theme when fought.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected[]

A Taos Fogbeast
In Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected, Fogbeasts are creatures created from the Black Fog released from the rift in time-space above Alcamoth, with the Fog King, a Guldo brought through the rift from Alrest that became a Fogbeast, acting as the leader. Some of them are species from Bionis that have been transformed into Fogbeasts in the image of the Tainted enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Fogbeasts emit a riot surge when encountered, drawing in nearby monsters and giving them the Riot Aura. This increases their level based on the strength of the Fogbeast.
Like the Unique Monsters in Future Connected, defeating a Fogbeast for the first time awards the player with an Arts Coin. Defeating the same Fogbeasts can drop additional Arts Coins, though it is rare. Fogbeasts found in the field are always sight-based and will always drop silver chests.

Trivia[]
- As revealed by Tetsuya Takahashi in Xenoblade 3 Official Artworks Aionios Moments, the phenomenon that manifested the Fogbeasts also happened in Alrest at some point after the events of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, with monsters from Bionis being projected to Alrest as Fogbeasts. He notes, however, that this event wasn't portrayed.
