Galea (Japanese: ガラテア, Garatea, lit. Galatea) is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. She was a co-worker of the scientist Klaus on one of the Orbit Stations.

Story

During the Saviorite attack on Rhadamanthus in 20XX, the station attempted to use the Conduit to activate Aion in a final effort to ward off the attackers but found themselves locked out by Klaus. As Klaus finishes preparations for his experiment to create a new universe, Galea tries to dissuade him, calling him delusional for treating the Conduit as a divine entity. She is unsuccessful, and Klaus performs his experiment, causing massive damage to Earth and creating a new universe.

Trivia

The Japanese name is likely a reference to Galatea, the statue which was famously carved by Pygmalion, who then fell in love with her, and subsequently brought to life by Aphrodite. The English name is likely a shortening of the Japanese name.
