Heroes (Japanese: ヒーロー, Hīrō) are guest characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Overview

Heroes are special allies who can be recruited to fight alongside Ouroboros as a seventh party member after completing the corresponding Hero Quest. While only one Hero can be in the active party, once recruited, they can be swapped in at any time. However they are not controllable. The six playable characters can still switch their class into Hero classes after growing closer to the corresponding Heroes, though. The exceptions are Shulk and Rex, whose classes cannot be learned under any circumstances.

Each Hero can also take part in Chain Attacks, with each one having a unique Heroic Chain bonus instead of the usual bonuses based on the class archetype.

Trivia

• Once reaching the final part of the main story, Heroes' voice lines will change when being selected on the Hero selection menu.
• Ethel and Cammuravi's story arc makes them unique among Heroes. For Ethel, she is the only Hero to remain unrecruitable until her ascension condition is met. Albeit Monica and Ghondor also becomes temporarily unrecruitable during certain parts of the main story. Moreover both do not have an ascension quest like other non-DLC Heroes, as well as the only Heroes to share the same ascension condition. Then both are also the only Heroes to be killed by Consuls and to be reborn in the main story.
• Monica and Ghondor are the only two Heroes that becomes temporarily unrecruitable during certain parts of the main story.
• Miyabi is the only Hero that joins the party by completing an Ascension Quest.
• DLC Heroes will not be summoned by Melia and Nia during the second phase of the final boss. DLC Heroes also lack unique conversations with Stefaan during the quest An Artist.
• As a pre-rendered cutscene, all non-DLC Heroes except Triton will appear at the end of the final cutscene regardless if they are recruited. This is also the case with Ethel, as she appears in her original form regardless if she rejoins the party.
