For the Titan, see Judicium Titan.

Judicium was a nation in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, located on the Titan Temperantia.

Story

Judicium was once a prosperous nation on the Titan Temperantia. They made impressive technological feats, such as creating massive Titan Weapons and creating the first Flesh Eaters through fusing human and Blade cells. Minoth was turned into a Flesh Eater with Judician technology, though he turned out to be a failed experiment. Amalthus characterizes the Jucians as Indoline "forbears," possibly implying that the Praetorium grew out of or seceded from Judicium.

Temperantia was home to many battles during the Aegis War, as evident by the large craters in the area such as the Aegishammer. Malos states that Judicium itself was wiped out in the War sometime prior to his attack on the Kingdom of Torna. Through salvaging Judician technology, the Indoline Praetorium discovered that Blades contain information on all living beings and that some Blades eventually develop into Titans. With this information, Indol perfected their Blade Eater technology.

500 years later, the pro-war faction of the Ardainian senate, led by Senator Roderich, agrees to resume excavation of ancient Judicium Titan weapons in response to Jin's theft of Core Crystals. Jin eventually hijacks the Titan weapon and fires at Urayan forces in Temperantia, bringing the two nations on the cusp of war.

Etymology

The name comes from jūdicium or iūdicium the Latin word for "judgment", "trial". It alludes to one of the Cardinal virtues, the justice (Latin iustitia), and corresponding to the seven heavenly virtue of kindness (Humanitas), that is opposed to the name of Uraya alluding to the seven deadly sin envy or Invidia in Latin.
