The Level gauge

Level is an important mechanic in Xenoblade Chronicles X. It represents the physical strength of a character during battles. In addition, more powerful gear and Skells have minimum Level requirements in order for a character to use them. Skells will also receive small power buffs from the pilot when leveling up, although this increase is small compared to the effects of Augments.

The maximum Level for party members is 60 in the original version, and the maximum Level for enemies is 99. In the Definitive Edition, the maximum Level for party members is 99.

Battle[]

The difference between the Level of the party leader and enemy affects the color of the enemy's tag, as well as the amount of experience and Class Points earned by defeating the enemy.

  • Red: These enemies are at least 50 levels higher than the party leader.
  • Orange: These enemies are 40-49 levels higher than the party leader.
  • Yellow: These enemies are 31-39 levels higher than the party leader.
  • Green: These enemies are 20-30 levels higher than the party leader.
  • Blue: These enemies are 10-19 levels higher than the party leader.
  • Purple: These enemies are 0-9 levels higher than the party leader.
  • White/Dark Gray: These enemies are lower leveled than the party leader. Their tag is dark gray, but their identifier on the field is white. The party earns 10% less experience per level difference (for example, being two levels higher than the enemy results in a 20% penalty), with a minimum of 1 EXP per enemy.
