On Gramps's Back is an Area and Landmark in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It is located on Azurda's back and is where Rex lives and does his Salvaging work. It is the first location visited in the game, but can only be visited as its own area during the fight against the King Crustip. Afterwards, Azurda swims to the Argentum Trade Guild, where he can be climbed on top of during Chapter 1 while he waits for Rex to return, but is no longer considered to be a Landmark.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the "Cloud Sea of Alrest" DLC stage, which is the second stage from the Xenoblade Chronicles series, takes place on Azurda's back as he swims through the Cloud Sea. As the fight goes on, the Titans of Gormott, Uraya, Mor Ardain, Indol, and Genbu, as well as the Argentum Trade Guild and the World Tree, will pass by in the background. Additionally, Nia, Dromarch, Tora, Poppi, Mòrag, Brighid, Zeke, and Pandoria make appearances as well, watching the fight on Azurda's back.

Trivia

• When Rex first arrives in Argentum, if the player holds L, R, ZL, ZR, X, and Down on the D-Pad for 5 seconds during the tutorial pop-up, which activates a secret instant-death code, Rex will be warped back to the "On Gramps's Back" Landmark, allowing exploration of the area.
  • Rex is warped back to this Landmark through this method because the Goldmouth Return Port Landmark is not discovered until the tutorial is closed, making Azurda's Back the last Landmark visited. Because the Goldmouth Return Port Landmark has not been discovered, the game must be reset in order to progress the game, as there is no way to Skip Travel back to Argentum.
  • Due to there being no map for Azurda's Back, the mini-map defaults to the center of Goldmouth.
