The Party Gauge is a battle mechanic in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected. It is a blue three-bar gauge displayed on the top left corner of the screen. A full bar is necessary to revive an incapacitated member. The full gauge is necessary to initiate a Chain Attack in Xenoblade Chronicles and a Union Strike in Future Connected. The Party Gauge is filled during battles whenever a "B" prompt is successful. The energy gathered in a full bar is necessary to revive an incapacitated member and the full gauge is necessary to initiate a Chain Attack/Union Strike. The party leader can also use up one bar to warn a party member about a Vision and force them to use one of their arts in response to the incoming attack.
Battle Flow[]
It can be filled by performing well on Burst Affinity prompts and triggering an Art's conditional or "Chance" effect, like what happens with a successful side or back hit on arts like Slit Edge or Back Slash. Certain arts such as Riki's Happy Happy can boost the Party Gauge considerably.
Landing a Critical Hit increases the Party Gauge slightly, and simple Auto-Attacks from a character will also fill the Party Gauge step by step when their Tension is high. Defeating an enemy during a Chain Attack restores the gauge by a full bar.
Each action fills the Party Gauge by a different amount:
Action | Gain |
---|---|
Auto-Attack (Very High Tension) | 5 |
Inflict a Critical Hit | 10 |
Trigger Art's Chance effect | 20 |
"Good" Burst Affinity | 50 |
"Excellent" Burst Affinity | 75 |
A full Party Gauge requires 300 points to fill up completely.
When not in battle, the Party Gauge will slowly deplete. This effect can be lessened through the "Mind of the Warrior" Skill granted by Dunban's Prudence Skill Tree. Loading the game will completely deplete the Party Gauge.
