The Pollen Works where the pollen is transformed
Pollen Orbs are items in Xenoblade Chronicles. They are crucial to the Nopon way of life, and their uses range from providing light for the Frontier Village to a source of heat for cooking. Pollen Orbs can also be eaten, provided they are cooked correctly. Pollen Orbs come in four colours — yellow, which is the generic colour, blue, green, and red.
Relationship to Nopon[]
Pollen Orbs are a vital part of the Frontier Village, and the Nopon are dedicated to crafting Pollen Orbs for the village. Pollen Orbs, as their name implies, are crafted from the pollen of yellow flowers in Makna Forest, specifically from the Yellow Flower Grove. The pollen is then taken to the Pollen Works and condensed into yellow Pollen Orbs, which are then further refined, sometimes into other colours, and then ferried to the Pollen Orb Storehouse. Blue and green Pollen Orbs are used primarily for lighting the village, since they emit light but do not radiate much heat, while other Pollen Orbs are used for cooking and for food.
Red Pollen Orbs[]
Red Pollen Orbs are rarer and much more potent than the other Pollen Orbs, and are consequently the center of a chain of quests which revolve around eliminating the black market for them. Red Pollen Orbs react to the water of the Shining Pond to produce Highmore Caviar, and they also greatly increase physical strength, as seen in A Mysterious Delicacy and A Big/Little Brother's Fight, respectively.
In Xenoblade Chronicles 3[]

The OP Pollen Orb
In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Pollen Orbs are mentioned and created in Ino's ascension quest, The Hope of Noponkind by Sunny. He asks the party to gather high quality flowers to create the OP Pollen Orb, in order to incapacitate the Nopon Eater. It is described by humans as having an awful smell, but it is not an issue for Nopon or Ino.
