Purgovent

Purgovents (Japanese: モルム, Morumu) are Piscinoid enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles X. They look like huge flying fish-like creatures, with many similarities to Lophids. They can be found in Noctilum, Oblivia, and Sylvalum.

Description[]

"Giant fish that are covered in adamantine scales reminiscent of armor. Evolution has seen their eyes and teeth recede, giving them no option other than to completely swallow nearby prey. If the meal happens to be poisonous, it will be regurgitated along with the stomach; after a good wash in seawater, the stomach can then be gulped back down."

"Their illicium and bioluminescence give purgovents a means to communicate amongst themselves. During spawning season, females will secrete special pheromones from their illicium, attracting prospective mates. Once her eggs are fertilized, she abandons them to hatch on their own. Though few survive this process, adult purgovents have almost no natural enemies, and tend to enjoy long lives."

Color Variants[]

Purgovents fall into two color variants:

Light purgovents are whitish in coloration, though they seem more bluish due to the night ambience. They can drop Stout Purgovent Extract. They only appear in Sylvalum at night.
Dark purgovents are stone-gray in coloration. They can drop Strong Purgovent Extract.
