For those who have not completed games in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, this page contains spoilers regarding the plot. Discretion is advised.

The Queen of Agnus (Japanese: アグヌスの女王, Agunusu no Joō) is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. She is the Masked Queen of Agnus and rules this nation. She is later revealed to be a mechanical double of Nia used by the Consuls to maintain control over Agnus, using the stolen name and identity of the original. She was designed by Masatsugu Saito, the lead character designer of the game.

Personality[]

Little is seen of the false Queen's personality, due to her limited screen time. However, she appears to act autonomously despite being a construct and a puppet for Moebius. She is preoccupied with protecting "the world" as it exists, being the "endless now" perpetuated by the Consuls. To that end, she believes that the Ouroboros must be erased from the world. During her speeches, she claims to care about the people of Agnus and that their losses cause her pain, although it is never revealed whether the Consuls programmed her to believe her own words or whether she is knowingly lying. Her in-battle quotes suggest her to be programmed with the same motives and personality as her Kevesi counterpart, although unlike her, the Queen of Agnus also audibly cries in anger and pain during her battle, hinting at a more outwardly emotional nature similar to the contrast between their organic counterparts.

Like her Kevesi counterpart, the false Queen of Agnus is programmed to be completely loyal to the Consuls. This ultimately leaves her passive when Mio reveals herself in M's body until a higher-ranking Consul, X, issues her a new directive.

Appearance[]

The false Queen of Agnus is nearly identical in appearance to Nia in her royal dress. The only difference is that she wears a golden mask modeled after a stylized human face. Unlike the false Queen of Keves, her true face is never revealed. She also does not wield a personal weapon like the true Nia does, preferring to do battle in her Ferronis.

Story[]

QOA in Throne Room

The Queen of Agnus in her throne room

After Z used Origin to create Aionios, Nia, the Queen of Agnus, went into hiding in the Cloudkeep to avoid notice by Z. In her absence, Moebius created a false Queen to assume Nia's throne and identity and act as a mouthpiece for the Consuls.

"Queen Nia" is first briefly seen after the Ouroboros encounter Consul K, issuing orders to her troops to destroy the Ouroboros as they have no place in the world.

Later, the false Queen is seen at Agnus Castle's Ascension Grounds during Mio's Homecoming, giving a ceremonial speech prior to the off-seers sending Mio to her permanent departure from the world. However, the "Mio" that was sent off is revealed to be M in Mio's body, while Mio herself was in M's body the whole time overseeing the ceremony giving the present day Mio a fighting chance to live. After a battle with N, Consul X hijacks the fake Queen of Agnus, sending the robot into an apparent fit of rage and causing her to lay waste to her castle using the small Ferronis formed from her throne. At this point, Noah unlocks the true potential of Lucky Seven, and he and the other Ouroboros destroy the false Queen opening an escape route out of the castle.

Trivia[]

  • The false Queen's voice effect changes for each of the three times she speaks in-game. When first appearing in Chapter 2, she has a slight filter effect due to her mask similar to her Kevesi counterpart; when giving her speech in Chapter 5, she has no voice effects and sounds identical to her template; and during her boss battle with her Ferronis activated, her voice has a heavy metallic echo and reverb.
  • The false Queen uses the same model as Nia in all instances outside of battle. As such, hacking to remove her mask only reveals Nia's face.
