Shotgun Diplomacy (Japanese: 自由平等, Jiyū Byōdō, Freedom, Equality) is a Normal Mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X. It can be received from Eliza in front of the Cathedral north doors, in the Residential District. The decision made when negotiating with Alex affects the ending of Alex's Last Stand.

Objectives

1. "Head to Oblivia's Balance Rock area and meet with Alex."
   • A Route: Persist: "Try to convince Alex that humans cannot survive alone."
   • B Route: Fight: "Accept that words are futile, and stop Alex by force."
2. Achieve all objectives
   • "Defeat Lineage in Oblivia's Balance Rock area."
   • "Defeat the BLADE trooper in Oblivia's Balance Rock area."
   • "Defeat the BLADE sniper in Oblivia's Balance Rock area."
3. "Talk to Eliza at the cathedral in the residential district."

Results

A Route: "You succeeded in convincing Alex that his ways were in error, but his ally interfered."

B Route: "You failed to convince Alex. Perhaps it's simply impossible for him to see eye to eye with you..."
