Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is an upcoming and latest iteration in the Super Smash Bros. series by Nintendo. Elements of Xenoblade Chronicles included in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U are confirmed to return, most notably with Shulk being a playable fighter.
Playable Characters
Shulk is the only character from the Xenoblade series confirmed to be playable. Through gameplay footage, he seems similar to his appearance in the previous game, although he has a few notable changes.
Shulk can now choose between Monado Arts much quicker.
Moveset Changes
Standard Special
Shulk's standard special still allows him to switch between 5 Monado Arts. However, he now has the ability to press the special button once, and then choose the desired Monado Art from there with the control stick. This allows for arts to be switched and activated faster. In addition, by pressing the special button while an art is active, a meter can be seen which shows when the art will run out. The 5 Arts are the same from Super Smash Bros. 4, being 翔 (Jump), 疾 (Speed), 盾 (Shield), 斬 (Buster), and 撃 (Smash).
His other special moves appear identical to their Smash 4 iterations.
Fiora is now present in Shulk's Final Smash
Final Smash
Shulk's Final Smash is still Chain Attack. Fiora, in her Mechonis form, has been added to this animation, despite the fact that a chain attack can only be performed by 3 party members.
Stages
Metal Face on Gaur Plain as seen in the August 8 Direct.
Gaur Plain has been confirmed to return from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Metal Face also returns as a stage boss.
Assist Trophies
