The Mad Monk (Japanese: アヴァランチの破戒僧, Avaranchi no Hakaisō, Avalanche's Sinful Monk) is an Affinity Mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X. It can be accepted near the exit from East Gate in the Administrative District.

Objectives

1. "Head to Noctilum's Vitriol Cesspool."
2. Only if "Demand" is chosen in the cutscene.
   • "Gather five muneria flowers in Noctilum."
   • "Talk to Jejebba in Noctilum's Vitriol Cesspool."
3. "Talk to the survivor in Noctilum's Vitriol Cesspool."
4. "Defend Noctilum's Vitriol Cesspool from attack for two minutes."
   • The enemies in question are heinous blattas.
5. "Defend Noctilum's Vitriol Cesspool from attack for two more minutes."
   • The enemies in question are heinous forfexes.
6. "Talk to Reggie in Noctilum's Vitriol Cesspool."
7. "Talk to Eleonora in the BLADE Concourse."

Results

A route (Follow): "You completed Bozé's mission and rescued his former academy student. Go to BLADE Tower for the next affinity mission."
B route (Demand): "You completed Bozé's mission and helped both the xenoform and Bozé's former academy student. Go to BLADE Tower for the next affinity mission."

Trivia

• If you choose "Follow" the second objective will say "Talk to the survivor", whereas if "Demand" is chosen the fourth objective will say "Talk to the survivors" even though Reggie is the only survivor no matter which one you choose.
