Time is a mechanic in the Xenoblade Chronicles series.
Xenoblade Chronicles[]
In Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected, for every second of real time that passes during gameplay, one minute of in-game time will pass. The player can freely set the time from the menu, which may cause the weather to change. Time does not pass during cutscenes, conversations with NPCs, or when a menu is open. Certain Enemies will only appear during specific times of the day, including a few Unique Monsters. Certain types of Weather can only occur at specific times of day. Additionally, certain Heart-to-Hearts/Quiet Moments can only be viewed at specific times of the day, and some NPCs may only appear at specific times.
Most areas of Bionis and Mechonis have multiple music tracks that play depending on the time of day.
When a character is equipped with Night Vision Gems, their accuracy will increase at night.
Time does not pass during the Battle of Sword Valley.
