The future doesn't belong to you!

For those who have not completed games in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, this page contains spoilers regarding the plot. Discretion is advised.

Weapons in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country have a specific function compared to those from Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Each party member can equip a weapon, and except a few ones such as the Broadsword wielded by Rex in the beginning of the game, they are provided by Blades to their Drivers during battle. Each Blade has a particular class of weapon which determines the Blade's role and the Arts available to their Driver. Some weapon classes are unique to a Legendary Blade, while others can also be found on Rare and Common Blades. A Blade's weapon cannot be changed, but can be upgraded or downgraded by using Core Chips.

In Torna ~ The Golden Country, there are in addition special Weapon Accessories with an Element effect. They can only be equipped by a certain Driver, which influences that driver's Element type, although no one will grant a driver the "Light" element.

Trivia

  • The code of version 1.0.0 of the game contains a dummy file for Rex's Broadsword, named "Utsuro". Rex is still considered to be a fighter before gaining access to the Aegis, but Utsuro is identified as a Tank Blade. This may have been changed in one of the later versions.
  • Pre-Aegis Rex, Jin and Malos all have names for their weapons that cannot be seen normally. Rex's Broadsword is called "Junk Sword", Jin's Nodachi is called "Masamune" and the Sword Tonfa that Malos wields is called "Thanatos". This Sword Tonfa is different from the one the main characters can wield when bonded with Sever, as the weapon in that case is called "Bringer of the Winds".
