X (Japanese: エックス Ekkusu) is an antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. She is a member of Moebius.
Overview[]
Alongside with Y and Z, X is one of the original and first Consuls. Beyond her being "born" a Moebius, her origins are unexplained. She is rather snarky, even berating Z at one point. She makes use of two weapons, a staff that cancels Interlinks, and a scythe she uses for offense. Only the latter seems to be her Blade, as once the staff is destroyed in Chapter 6, she does not regenerate it.
Personality[]
X is very bratty, and talks down to everyone around her, at one point criticizing Z for his speeches. She is openly sadistic, loving to cull lives from Gold rank colonies, and firing the Annihilator in an attempt to destroy the City. She thinks humans are, by nature, mindlessly prone to destruction and murder, encourages such feelings in people like Shania, and berates those who want more than what Moebius gives them in their life. She toys with other people's emotions in hopes it will demoralize them.
In contrast, when she is faced with adversity, she often panics or begs for Z. Examples include when she orders N to slay the Ouroboros; desperately asking how Ouroboros has the Sword of the End, gasping in disbelief after her staff is destroyed, screaming for Z to teleport her away from Agnus Castle, and wishing for Z to save her as she dies.
Appearance[]
X when she is masked
X has the appearance of a small girl with fair skin and white colored hair styled into a bob cut with long bangs that typically cover much of the right side of her face and eye. She has bright blood orange-colored eyes, with thick eyelashes. Similar to Y and Z, X has a purple scar across her face. In addition, she has an X-shaped aura hair ornament on the left side of her head.
When she is wearing her Consul mask, X's helmet resembles the Latin letter 'X'. Her scythe weapon is red and black. The handle is primarily red with black details that give it an organic appearance, and ends in a spike. The opposite effect occurs on the blade, which is black with similar red veins. The blade glows purple in combat. The Moebius symbol is slanted diagonally on the blade portion. There are circular holes on the top of the shaft and bottom corner of the blade. Her staff is a black rod with small red details that resembles a caduceus. The top of the rod has rings that form an X shape. The weapon projects an purple energy orb when X tries to cancel interlinks. This weapon lacks the Moebius symbol.
Her Moebius form is a lanky feminine figure. She is mostly black with red armor on her arms and legs that give the impression she is wearing arm gloves and thigh high boots ending in heels. There are also chains around her torso and hips, and spiky cuffs on her wrists and ankles. Her face is white with piercing red eyes and a toothy maw. On top of her head there is a circular halo with spikes in a X shape. She wields a scythe that is red in the blade and bottom of the handle, with the handle itself being black. On her body and scythe there is a purple energy that turns orange as the battle goes on.
Story[]
She is one of the original Moebius alongside Y, and Z. She can either be encountered first at Colony 5 during Side Story: Eunie, or at Agnus Castle during Chapter 5. Although, she is first seen telling P and O that N wanted to see them, as he had an idea on how they could get rid of Ouroboros, though they were unsuccessful.
During Side Story: Eunie, she attacks Colony 5 alongside L. She explains to the party about the truth of the Colony ranking system, and that those who make it to Gold rank are killed.
During the main story, she is first seen using her staff to cancel the Interlink between Lanz and Sena, preventing their suicide attack against N, he was actually surprised at her appearance but she said this was under Z's orders. She is next seen during Mio's Homecoming Ceremony, though it was revealed afterwards M swapped her mind with Mio and sacrificed herself so she could live. After the party are freed from their bonds, due to Noah and Mio destroying X's staff, and beat N, she sends the false Queen of Agnus to attack them. After the queen was defeated, X then activates the Castle's Annihilator to attack the City as a contingency, having gotten the location from Shania, before fleeing with N. Although, also courtesy of M and Mio, the City was warned and moved underground.
During Side Story: Sena, she resurrects Shania as a Moebius and shows a vision of Ghondor as a "faker" to get revenge on her and Ouroboros. Unfortunately, this was Shania's first and only chance to avenge the first failure to execute Ouroboros.
She is last seen in Origin, where she fights the party in her Moebius form, before being killed. As X dies, she cries in agony how she does not want to die. A being known as X∞ that resembles X is also fought during the final battle against Z.
Battle[]
Consul X is a Quest Exclusive Boss who is a Consul and is fought at level 47 at Loska Plateau on the Urayan Trail during Side Story: Eunie. She fights alongside Moebius L. The battle will end once L is defeated.

Moebius X is a Boss who is a Moebius and is fought at level 70 in Defense Tower #2 in the Origin Interior. This boss is only available if Side Story: Eunie was completed first.

- X shares her English voice actor, Jessica Preddy, with Vale and Zenobia from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
- X will have different dialogue during Chapter 5 and Side Story: Eunie depending on which order the party encounters her during these quests.
- X's physical appearance somewhat resembles Wilhelm's, a major character from Xenosaga, as well as Primera Black's from Xenogears.
