Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed (Japanese: ゼノブレイド３　新たなる未来, Zenobureido 3 Aratanaru mirai) is an expansion to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 published by Nintendo and developed by Monolith Soft for the Nintendo Switch. It was first teased during the February 8, 2023 Nintendo Direct, and later officially announced on April 18, 2023. It was released as part of Wave 4 of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass on April 25, 2023 in North America and on April 26, 2023 everywhere else.

Gameplay[]

Future Redeemed's gameplay is largely identical to Xenoblade Chronicles 3, although with a few notable differences. Exploration takes places solely within the Cent-Omnia Region of Aionios, and the progression of each character's class stats is now determined by their Affinity Growth tree instead of their Class Rank. The Affinity Growth nodes can be acquired by spending Affinity Points which are tied to various new features such as the Community reminiscent of Torna ~ The Golden Country, the Enemypaedia which grants points based on the number of certain enemies defeated, the Collectopaedia, viewing Affinity Scenes, completing new Battle Missions such as the Fog Rifts and Enemy Territories, and exploration of new locations and landmarks. Gem and Accessory slots are no longer locked behind level, but instead locked behind Gem Unlock Kits and Accessory Unlock Kits which can be found by exploring. Additionally, sections of the Affinity Growth are locked off by default for each character, and require an Affinity Growth Unlock Kit to use.

Combat differs from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in a few key areas. There are no Heroes or separate Classes, each character only has their one unique Class. The Ouroboros mechanic is now supplanted by the Unity feature. Each character has a unique pairing with every other playable character that comes with a Unity Skill which grants a powerful buff in battle, and a Unity Combo which afflicts a reaction status to an enemy. The Smash, Burst, and Blowdown reaction statuses are now exclusive to certain Unity Combos. Each player character also has a separate equipment slot exclusive to Manuals, which can grant the equipped character with either a Heroic Chain, Chain Order, or both during a Chain Attack. Similarly to Ouroboros Orders, picking the Chain Orders of both characters in a Unity pairing will cause a Unity Order to appear.
