Zeon (Japanese: ゼオン) is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Overview[]
He is a Hero who fights alongside Noah and his friends,[1] hailing from Keves, and seems to have known them for a long time.[2] He is the newly chosen commander of Colony 9, which is facing a serious problem of food shortage. He seems to be struggling everyday while thinking about the lives of his friends.[3] Zeon is a Kevesi human with High Entia traits.
Zeon is recruited by completing the Hero Quest Where The Heart Is. His Class Rank can be increased to 20 by completing the Ascension Quest Reasons to Evolve.
Story[]
Zeon is first seen in the opening cutscene, riding on an Equites Levnis in battle against Colony Sigma at Everblight Plain. He can be seen wandering around Colony 9 after the battle is concluded.
After Colony 9's battle against Colony Gamma in Alfeto Valley, the colony's rank was demoted to Tin, and the previous commander of Colony 9 lost his position all due to Noah, Eunie, and Lanz becoming Ouroboros. Zeon assumed position of commander afterwards, despite not being a lieutenant. He is next seen during his Hero Quest Where The Heart Is, where he attacks the party near Yzana Plains for betraying Keves, and putting their colony in dire straits. However in the middle of the battle, a soldier from Colony 9 communicates to Zeon through the Iris that Agnus Forces are approaching the colony. Just as Zeon was coming up with a countermeasure, Noah surmises the Agnian force's strategy of using terrain to cover their advance, and offers to intercept the force, despite being aware of Zeon's distrust. This results in Zeon questioning the true nature of why they are fighting for the colony's benefit, and decides to bring them back to Colony 9 in order use them in the vanguard, and see where the party's allegiance lies through their actions.
Zeon and the party then go to the Colony 9 Command to discuss with Kite about what to do next about the Agnus forces. Kite proposes an attrition strategy, or full on raid of the forces, but Zeon rejects them due to wanting to minimize casualties, leading to Kite pointing out the low morale of the hungry troops, calling into question Zeon's leadership. Noah then proposes destroying the colony's Flame Clock, in order to remove the reason for them to fight. Kite finds the concept to be ridiculous, but Zeon believes they will be an asset, causing Kite to be enraged at Zeon, believing him to be siding with Noah over his own lieutenant, despite Zeon saying otherwise, and storms out of command. This leaves Zeon to discuss the party's use in his strategy, that being the combination of Keves and Agnus soldiers fighting alongside one another to sow confusion amongst the enemy ranks, while being supervised by Zeon personally.
The party and Zeon head towards the Agnus forces, declaring that he will also be fighting as well, and that if the battle is of little importance to the party, then they would just desert him. After wearing down the enemy forces, Zeon declares to the enemy captain that he doesn't want needless slaughter, who responds that wars aren't won be keeping your hands clean. This struck a chord with Zeon, who remembered how he beat Noah during a sparring match only because Noah held back, believing this to be an unsustainable ideal at the time. However, he says that he now believes that if he doesn't stand for something greater, then the war will only become fiercer. Noah responds by once again bringing up his offer of destroying the colony's Flame Clock, which Zeon agrees to have a conversation about on the way back to the colony.
However, when they arrive back in the Colony, Consul B is waiting for them, taunting the Ouroboros, and insulting the soldiers who died at the battle in Alfeto Valley, angering the soldiers of Colony 9. B then proceeds to attack the party, but are protected by Zeon, who now sees that the Consuls that they were fighting for valued their lives to be so little, while the rebels who were fighting against those same Consuls were risking their lives to protect them. Zeon and B proceed to fight, and Zeon creates a distraction with a dust cloud, allowing Noah to destroy the Flame Clock. The other soldiers of Colony 9 then arm themselves and surround B, who enters his Moebius form, and fights the party.
B is ultimately defeated by the party, and claims that they can't change anything, and only suffering and despair awaits them, dying shortly afterwards. Zeon replies by saying that it was his choice to make, and talks with the other members of the colony about the true nature of the war, and about how they need to acquire knowledge of the outside world, and that only they have the choice of changing the outcome of their own destinies. Noah then offers to help the colony in the transition, and Zeon asks the colony to accept the party once more, to which most accept, with the exception of Kite, who declares that he should be the commander instead of Zeon. Zeon the talks to the party about his plan of action, starting with making fields to solve the food shortage. He then thanks Noah and the party for their help.
Gameplay[]
His initial Class is Guardian Commander, a Defender class. His Talent Art can protect his allies. He fights with a sword and shield, and his abilities are enhanced by adversity, making him a reliable companion to stand up to the strongest enemies.
In a Chain Attack, Zeon starts with 25 TP by default. Zeon's Chain Art is Deflector Form, and his Heroic Chain bonus grants him 15 TP whenever he reactivates.
